Only made for one year in 1968 the TR5 took the bodyshell of the TR4 and replaced the mechanicals with a 2.5 Litre Petrol Injected six cylinder that was later used in the TR6. 150 BHP with a 0-60 of 8.1 seconds. In the US it was sold as the TR250 and sold with carburettors and a BHP of 104 due to emission regulations. Of some 2200 made there are now only about 650 in existence with prices rising accordingly.
This one had had two previous owners and the last owner has had it for 27 years. He had it restored in the early 80's and waxoyled ever since. Dry stored for the last 13 years everything has seized. Underwent minor restoration before I collected from Shepton Mallet in June 2005. Since then I have run it for the summer - minor maintenance included fitting an emergency bonnet release and new caliper piston seals.
