Tilly's Restoration

Tilly was transported down to JLH Morris Minors nr Daventry in early January to commence restoration. This is a pictorial record of the restoration stages. The idea being for Tilly to be converted to have a Rover 1.8 K Series VVC engine with Throttle bodies, sports cam and flowed head. In addition a Ford Sierra 5 speed gearbox and Escort Mk II rear axle. Suspension will be coil over shock and disc brakes all round

January 23rd - Cutting out floorplan and mounting rear axle tensioners
Tilly on her lift - not battery box gone to support bigger 1.8 engine Floor cut out and new rear axle hanger Better picture of strengthener and no passenger floor Didn't think there was this much rust
February 6th - New Floor plan - flitches etc
Tilly's new inner wings New Inner wings and chassis strengtheners New engine bay and battery compartment mods New floorpan and sterngthener From the front
February 28th - New wood to allow final welding - plus doors have been chemically dipped
New wings and valance New inner sills and B post base Original door but after chemical dipping Door and new wood Side profile - dipped doors and new wing and wood
March 30th - Waiting on dipping now
On dollies New inner wings and bulkhead cut back for K series Rear suspension strengthening points New inner sill and A/B posts
Engine bay and colour plate - Black Violet
June 22nd - Dipped, e-coated and final wood fitting
